Do First

Have supplies.
The most important thing you can do is have some emergency supplies ready. The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (ODEM) recommends having 2 weeks of food and water on hand for emergencies. How extensive your cache is depends on resources, storage capacity, personal needs and preferences. It’s likely that you already have much of what you need. There are many available ‘lists’ and strategies to help you get started, some of them linked here. NETs are happy to share our personal strategies if having an example helps.
Have a plan.
Start with a discussion with your family. Think through some scenarios about potential disasters and agree on some protocols for how you would each respond, and where you would meet up.
